Eliot called Gerontion (the title is Greek for “little old man” and the poem is an interior monologue about the opinions and impressions of an elderly man describing post-World War I Europe through the eyes of a man who lived most of his life in the 19th century). I have to say that I was lucky enough to watch The Bureau a few years ago and to be honest, it is probably one of the best things I have ever seen. There is a correlation between the two series, of course it was mentioned that it was "influenced" by it, but I did not expect a similar story.
You won’t regret it
Don’t get me wrong, the series up to this point is amazing, great cast, good cinematography, but it was nothing I had not seen before in the French version. It’s too early to tell how it’s going to play out, but for anyone who hasn’t watched The Presidency, I highly recommend it. After Fassbender played a professional hitman in David Fincher’s The Killer and I saw he was cast, I knew right away that he was a great choice for the role. These types of shows actually require a certain amount of concentration to watch, so that you can keep up with all the characters in the story and the little details about them. It’s not something you watch while riding a bike on an indoor trainer.
You either love these types of shows or you don’t like them at all, there’s no middle ground
Some would even consider them slow, maybe even boring, but the qualities and complicated personal struggles that the characters have, plus the slow build-up of tension, are what I think make them great.
