The couple’s life is turned upside down when their daughter is placed alongside the controversial star. Referenced in DA’s Office: Episode 26 – ACOLYTE DISASTER! The first half of the film is more of a character study, of the deeply unhappy and lonely housewife Anette, who soon discovers that her husband Ben may be having an affair with the famous actress Alicia. The second half of the film is more of a thriller, where the pace picks up and the wheels start turning in Anette’s head. The film is a real slow piece: first cold and icy, then warm and bubbly, then explosive in its final act. It grips, grips and thrills from start to finish. It is anchored by a wonderful performance by Daisy Ridley. It is a real revelation. His moments of quiet anger are heartbreaking. There is a symbolic scene where we see her break a mirror after sinking into it for a moment, symbolizing their broken marriage. Shazad Latif is also good here. The movie has some mediocre aspects. The trailer is quite misleading. It can drag and be a bit boring at times. The ending may be cathartic and rewarding for some viewers, while for others it will be mediocre. Hiba Ahmed Matilda, the daughter, is quite ok, although children’s performances in films are often not very good. He looked more like a prop than a character. And while Matilda Lutz was really pretty, attractive and compelling as a movie star in the context of the movie, it was just okay. Perhaps because Lutz is Italian, many of his lines sounded odd or stilted. If you like thrillers with a strong cast, especially thrillers with female rage, eroticism and infidelity, this is for you.
