Synopsis
A modern day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil drilling in West Texas
See the most popular movies and TV shows by writer/director Taylor Sheridan on IMDb, ranked by user ratings.. A landman, at least one who works in the oil industry, will act as a go-between for exploration companies and landowners. Typically, a landman’s job is to negotiate and finalize contracts with landowners with mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent. Essentially, they manage the land and secure the lease so that they can drill for oil and gas.
Three episodes only
Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, man-camps, assemble drilling equipment, and drill the well itself, especially in remote locations. They are also part-time repairmen, problem solvers, and managers. Referenced in CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode #44.24 (2022). Billy Bob Thornton is welcome back to Texas since his Friday Nights in 2006.
Based in the Permian Basin oil field, great cast so far!
The feel is Yellowstone and this is a welcome one, a series with a bit of reality versus superheroes and fantasy. Interesting people and stories…We Oilfield guys shake our heads at the inaccuracy of field life and explosions/explosions. The technical glitches in the first three episodes are annoying, and your technical consultant got it all wrong in the Blowout scene. A stuck old valve, a 24-inch pipe wrench (applied upside down nailed near the top?
Need torque, no cheat first?
100% wrong. No hammer except a brass hammer (i.e. no sparks)? No experienced oilfield crew would ever do that.
Shambolic technical director
tries to turn off the exhaust (I’ve never seen Landman on location) and reinstalls the wrench upside down and hits his own finger? Just hilarious. Hey-ho, Hollywood.
