James Gunn pitched “CREATURE COMMANDOS” before he took over DC
Synopsis
It follows a group of superhero warriors consisting of a human leader, a werewolf, a vampire, Frankenstein’s monster, and a gorgon. Gunn himself greenlit the project when he became CEO of DC Studios.

He is in the cast of AniMat’s Crazy Cartoon Cast: The Return of the King (of the Hill) (2023). I’ve always loved the DC Universe, and while I think the DCEU was overly hated, I’ve been very disappointed with a few DCEU projects.
This series has fantastic characters and is incredibly creative
I think when James Gunn says that superhero movies and TV have become too generic, that’s the key. There have been so many superhero movies made in the last decade that when people see a new one coming out, they don’t go to the movies because they’re like, “Another superhero movie, man, there’s too many of them,” because they’re all the same, they’re just generic action movies (especially sequels).
I think James Gunn is really going to turn things around and I’m looking forward to it
I also think that as Marvel has become so much more popular, DC has a lot of great characters that have been overlooked (by fans), and I think if everything falls into place at DC in the next few years, the lesser-known characters can do well at the box office, as long as they grab people’s attention and really have a unique character. But yeah, it was a great start and I can see it only getting better from here.
